Devo were a concept, they were theatre rock. To say they wern’t the real deal is nonsense. Devo were inspirational, challenging, weird, and completely unique. If you don’t get that maybe you have devolved too soon. As Devo said, it’s survival of the fittest yet the unfit may live. This band was for smart kids.
Just because only one of their songs made it in to the top ten (yeah, a hell a ton of others charted), dosn’t mean they’re not good. Besides, when is the mainstream public ever right about anything, musically?

I don’t see what number of hits has to do with how good a band is. I’d be more apt to think they are a good band because of all the bands who covered them, like nirvana, system of a down, and a lot more.

Find some of their old interviews and you’ll see a band that stood for NOT accepting what our government feeds us..just like some of the best bands in history. They were enovators for their time, brought musical advancements to all bands and movie soundtracks. There IS a lot more to them than you know. I suggest you do some research and expand your brain a bit. Anyway, I’m done…LOL.
You’re wrong. YOU only know whip it. They had a TON of hits, you just weren’t a fan. They have loyal fans and still pack venues. Been doing it for over 25yrs. They are also responsible for a ton of music enovations that made some instruments what they are today.Like many rock bands, they stood for going against the “man” and questioning instead of just accepting what our government feeds us. You’d be amazed at how many of YOUR favorite bands are devo fans.
Only Pearl Jam can make a cover of a Devo song and rock at the same time. They can make anything sound awesome, that’s for sure. This is the only band around that makes a cover and leave you wondering if it isn’t better than the original track.

I was there for the shows on the 30th and 31st. amazing shows and when they dressed as Devo it was a total surprise and made the entire night!!!
