Halloween Costume: a Guide to Buying the Halloween Costume for you

I can’t decide on my costume for Halloween, yet again. Every time this year I can’t help but noticed the impossibly, infinitely large costume choices I am faced with for Halloween and the funny thing is, the choices grow exponentially every year! Great, just when I think there couldn’t be anymore options to fluster me with.

The people who can never stick with one Halloween costume idea- people like me. If I was to make a comparison I would say we are like women going to shopping when it comes to costumes (for clarification purposes I am a male, if I was a female I would not be nit picking my own kind of course), either we don’t like something trivial yet important enough to discourage us from the costume (in the end, every single costumes we come across), or like every costume so much we can’t make up our minds.

You see, to work efficiently in what ever you do, you must have a set of goals or milestones to achieve and accomplish. In this case, to decide on a Halloween costume idea, you must set some guidelines for yourself. For example, the first one has to be a date by which you buy the costume, saving yourself the frustration of not getting the ones you want. Another one would be the price, what kind of price would be most acceptable to you? To close it off, a good one I would recommend is that be broad, do you want to dress in a funny looking costume or go all out with the serious and authentic look (if you’re a female you have the third choice of going for the sexy look, guys don’t like looking at scantly dressed guys so that would be a NO for us dudes). It is important not to make really specific goals or deadlines for yourself, especially in the costume choices, or else you might end up with something you are not happy with or end up not being able to choose from all the other choices since you love them all.

So where to get started then? First find yourself a store that sells costumes! There are of course, plenty of large retail stores that sell costumes for Halloween, but their choices are limited and unless you plan on taking a road trip around the town, price comparisons are not possible. Online retail stores dedicated to costumes would be a better choice then, not only are there a lot more choices, price comparisons are a click away, and the only trip you need to make is the walk from the chair to the computer. There are a few online costume stores, but the one I would recommend is Costume SuperCenter as they are very competitive and have very attractive prices and choices.

With that aside, the rest is simple really, do you want to be funny or serious? If you want to dress up funny, just be yourself, don’t “find” something that’s funny, just browse through the selection of costumes, if you get a chuckle or a laugh out of some of them, those are the ones for you. The fact that you laughed at it just with a glance means that you like it on the subconscious level, and you can wear this costume and be completely comfortable with what you will look like. If you find it funny, people will too, don’t think about what people might like, wear something you like.

For the serious dressers, look for something detailed, flamboyant, accurate or super complicated while still being within your price range. Nothing impresses people more than an impressively detailed and accurate costume at a party or when you knock on your neighbors’ doors. Such a costume is guaranteed to get you plenty of head turning and second looks.

Lastly for (probably all) the female participant of Halloween that wants to go for the sexy look, there is a saying that goes: dress for excess! Or in this case it would be the opposite of excess.

See? That wasn’t so bad! If you read this completely through, I hope it was able to help make your costume shopping dilemma simpler and give you some Halloween costume ideas. On a final note everyone should have fun, enjoy themselves, and stay safe, happy Halloween!
